Natural Car Grooming - Cleaning Expert's Tip

!±8± Natural Car Grooming - Cleaning Expert's Tip

One of the most popular gifts for the guys seems to be car grooming products. The only snag with these is that they're not that natural, with the exception of chamois leather cleaning cloths. With the amount of time that modern people spend inside their cars, especially if you have a decent work commute, it makes sense to limit the amount of toxins you are exposed to in your vehicle as well as in your home.

But you can make your own car grooming natural cleaning products. You can make them for yourself or you can make a batch or three to give as gifts for the car-happy blokes (and women) in your circle of friends and relations.

Several of these recipes call for soap gel. Making soap gel is easy. Simply save soap scraps, or else grate or chop up a bar of soap. Put the scraps into a bucket or non-reactive saucepan and pour boiling water over the soap. The soap will melt and form a slippery gel once it cools. The consistency of the gel will depend on the proportion of soap and water you use, but the ideal consistency is one that's slightly less runny than shampoo but runnier than honey (the best description of the best consistency for soap gel is to think of the sort of mucus produced by a heavy cold in the nose - revolting but true).

Basic car wash:

Mix 4 litres water with ½ cup soap gel (preferably from castile soap) in a bucket. Add about 10 drops of essential oil of your choice (one of the citrus family is ideal, but lavender also smells good). Use this to wash your car all over the exterior, using a soft brush. Finish by rinsing off with a hose or bucket before the soap dries. If making this up to give as a gift, just mix the soap gel and the essential oil, and add instructions on how to use it.

To make a heavy-duty car wash suitable for 4x4s, double the amount of soap gel used. This method is as effective as a professional cleaning.

Tyre wash:

Mix 2 cups baking soda with ½ cup soap gel and 1 cup of water. Use this to wash down the tyres. Rinse it off with a mixture of vinegar and water.

Car polish:

Melt 12 tablespoons of beeswax in 2 cups linseed oil, plus about 10 drops of essential oil of your choice, in a double boiler. While it's still liquid, pour it into an airtight container and seal. Leave it a few days to harden. Apply directly to the car with a soft cloth dampened with vinegar. Buff to a high shine with a dry cloth.

Interior scent:

Blend about 1 cup of vinegar or vodka in 1 pint of water. Add about 12 drops of essential oil or a blend of essential oils (citrus or lemongrass help promote alertness, while lavender is soothing - may eliminate a bit of road rage!). Put these into a spray bottle and shake together. Put it away in a dark cupboard to mellow a little, then spray inside of the car when you want to freshen it up. This mixture can also double as a cleaning product for chrome or windows - a real bonus.

Which Are the Best Steam Generator Irons?

!±8± Which Are the Best Steam Generator Irons?

Steam generator irons are not a must-have in every house. For casual ironing that services few people, a traditional iron might do the job as well, considering that professional results are not needed in that case, although many people want to have these extra features anyway, they will purchase one.

But generally, that main target market for these products are families with a high ironing load, with a heavily-loaded household and many people living in the house. Using steam generator irons can reduce the time consumption of the ironing task and result in a better looking fabric in the end of the process.

Before we touch the disadvantages and advantages steam generator irons have, let's have a look at the basic differences between them and traditional irons. The first noticeable difference is the different design that steam irons have. Steam irons are built from a combination of a plastic water container that holds the water, which later, using the second part of the iron called the steam generator, will come out of the holes at the bottom of the iron in the form of steam.

Reliable steam generator irons hold the water in a built-in device for reserving and maintaining it better, rather than storing it in a separate water container which is the common way in the more commercial ones.

The first thing to understand when beginning to compare steam generator irons, is the way that these irons work. The benefit from using steam irons is that using the steam, which causes heat and moisture to penetrate deep into the cloth, therefor making it very much more flexible and easier for removing wrinkles. This process actually makes it much easier to iron your clothes, and a more fun task to accomplish.

Tap water isn't always the best choice to fill your iron with. If you purchase a steam generator iron with a sensitive surface - materials that come out as a result of heating tap water may cause damage to your product. In addition, keeping your steam generator iron in the best condition is amazingly simple. Just rinse the reservoir with fresh water every time you complete 10 full uses of the product. This way you can maintain it and keep your investment returning value for a longer period of time.

So, let's see where they do better job and in which issues they have advantages
They provide better performance. using them will shorten your ironing time and make your housekeeping life easier Increased quality of fabric and ultimately better looking clothing of you and your family Lightweight. the steam irons are usually lighter than the traditional ones and therefore making it easier to use Anti-scale technology. most of the steam generator irons include a mechanism which prevents limescale collection in the bottom of the ironing surface.

Another useful tip that you might want to remember is, when buying a steam generator iron, look for a thermostat or any other button that you will be able to switch off if you want to use it as a dry iron. This option is very recommended and useful in many cases.

The best brands are still a puzzle to lots of people. there isn't a scientific fact that could prove one brand to be better than another. Anyways, the Tefal steam generator irons are known to be high-priced but at the same time priceless, while other people actually prefer Rowenta of Morphy Richards.

Important: Do not plug your steam iron into another high wattage-consuming device in the same plug, or you'll be risking damaging your power circuits. Popping a circuit breaker is very probable in such a case.
